Technique Tips

Proper form makes all the difference

Pencil Grip

Hold your pencil with a relaxed tripod grip about one inch from the tip.

  • Thumb and index finger hold the pencil
  • Middle finger supports from below
  • Avoid squeezing too hard
  • Rest the pencil on the web of your hand

Posture

Good posture reduces fatigue and improves letter quality.

  • Sit up straight with feet flat on the floor
  • Paper tilted at 30-45 degrees
  • Non-writing hand holds the paper steady
  • Forearm rests on the desk for support

Stroke Technique

Smooth, consistent strokes are the foundation of elegant cursive.

  • Start each letter from the baseline
  • Use arm movement, not just fingers
  • Maintain consistent slant (55-60 degrees)
  • Connect letters with smooth lead-in strokes
